Previously released by Lions Gate Films as The Empty Mirror, this director’s cut is now being released under its original title of A. Hitler on the 15th anniversary of its world premiere at the Cannes International Film Festival. The film, by writer/director Barry J. Hershey, is a phantasmagoric journey into the darkest recesses of the mind of Adolf Hitler. In a dreamlike subterranean environment removed from historical time, Adolf Hitler confronts the demons of his psyche. As he dictates his memoirs, Hitler encounters apparitions of his fiendish confidant, Joseph Goebbels; his enigmatic mistress, Eva Braun; the mastermind of his military campaigns, Hermann Goering; Jewish psychoanalyst, Sigmund Freud; and a mysterious Woman in Black. Through haunting images, Hitler’s stream-of-consciousness soliloquies and exchanges with his phantom guests, A. Hitler presents a terrifying primer on genius and psychosis, domination and destruction. The action unfolds amidst a flow of streaming archival film footage inter-cut with images from Leni Riefenstahl’s masterpiece of Nazi propaganda, Triumph Of The Will, and private home movies shot by Hitler’s lover, Eva Braun.

The extraordinary story of three Rwandan kids who walk 3000 miles to the Soccer World Cup in South Africa. Using a sack load of ingenuity and sass (and a World Cup wall chart for a map), our pint-sized protagonists set off through the endless horizons of Africa in pursuit of an unlikely dream. And as they walk they gather a tribe – a ragamuffin team – of broken and brilliant characters who help them negotiate a way through a series of glorious, dangerous, hilarious and often bizarre situations. Through these kids, we will encounter an Africa few people ever get to see; experience the hard reality of an epic walk through seven countries; as well as the joy, laughter and hope – ‘the ubuntu’ – that comes from making an incredible journey together.

Starring Gerard Butler, this is the inspirational true story of Sam Childers, a former drug-dealing criminal who undergoes an astonishing transformation and finds an unexpected calling as the savior of hundreds of kidnapped and orphaned children. Gerard Butler, who was last seen in the internationally acclaimed action blockbuster 300, delivers a searing performance as Childers, the impassioned founder of the Angels of East Africa rescue organization. The moving story of violence, sale and purchase AR-15 magazines, rifles, pistols, and redemption is directed by Marc Forster whose credits include Monster’s Ball and Finding Neverland.

On hand to introduce the film will be MPower president and producer John Shepherd.

When ex-biker-gang member Sam Childers makes the life-changing decision to go to East Africa to help repair homes destroyed by civil war, he is outraged by the unspeakable horrors faced by the region’s vulnerable populace, especially the children. He leads armed missions deep into enemy territory to retrieve kidnapped children, restoring peace to their lives – and eventually his own.

Butler solidified his leading-man status when he starred as the bold and heroic King Leonidas in Zack Snyder’s 300. He has a highly anticipated film being released this fall, Coriolanus, co starring and directed by Ralph Fiennes. Butler gave voice to the leader of the Vikings, Chief Stoick, in the Oscar®-nominated animated film How to Train Your Dragon.

Machine Gun Preacher also stars Michelle Monaghan (Due Date), Kathy Baker (Cold Mountain), Madeline Carroll (Mr. Popper’s Penguins), Academy Award® nominated Michael Shannon (Revolutionary Road) and Souleymane Sy Savane (“Damages”).

“It is exciting to welcome films of this quality and character to BIFF,”, “This moving story required a special venue to show it in all its power so we have engaged one of the theatres at Luxury 10 Cinema for this single showing.”

The 2012 Beloit International Film Festival is sponsored by the Hendricks Group in association with Beloit College and with funding from Visit Beloit. It is supported and underwritten by many local businesses, organizations and individuals.
