Joanna Kutter Artwork
There is also a short list of key individuals who were with us at the founding of the concept to help us get established and have been with us all along. Some have played more visible and prominent roles while others have preferred to remain behind the scenes. Joanna Kutter is one of the latter. She may not fully relish this public outing of her contributions and appreciation so be gentle.
Those within the local arts community may also be familiar with Joanna through her creative artistic expressions. She is quite renown for her work and even if you don’t know Joanna it’s possible you have seen her work around town and elsewhere.
While BIFF was launched with plenty of planning, gathering of talent and due-diligence there was also a fair amount of hoping for the best. We’re not sure everyone was certain BIFF would still be around now fifteen years later. We’re very proud of our success so far and owe it to the foundations set by Joanna and many others.
So it is with that that many of us felt it only fitting that Joanna be invited to create something special for this our fifteenth anniversary of the Beloit International Film Festival. And we’re thrilled that she was willing to do so. It is her piece that you’ll see featured in various places throughout this season’s promotional materials.
If you’re lucky enough to know Joanna join us in thanking her for all her help. And if you don’t, catch one of us at a BIFF event. We’ll be glad to introduce you to a special friend.
The Beloit International Film Festival this year marks its 15th season as the region’s major international cultural event. BIFF is sponsored by the Hendricks Family Foundation and Visit Beloit in association with Beloit College. Support for the Festival comes from area businesses and civic organizations, and the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts. Critical individual support for BIFF is provided through gifts and membership in the BIFF Founders and the Film Society of Beloit.
