In a year when indie comedy films have seemed to be in short supply (Do you see what I did there? Comedy…short…supply…? I know, right?), BIFF has made another first by making a second. Synopsis:
A desperate woman being chased by an unseen assailant stumbles into a coffee shop looking for help. When approached by her, the manager falters, unsure of how to proceed, while his colleagues whine and interject: the woman may be a threat or simply a bother, but she’s nothing they want to handle.
The resulting scene gets the attention of a lingering customer, and together, the gathered group ignores the woman’s increasing anxiety, preferring instead the fun to be had by documenting her pleas, assessing the truth of her claims through apps and online tools, and bonding over their rejection of her tale.
These are people for whom the iPhone is both sword and shield: they record her cry for help, screens up towards her, faces passive. Life’s just easier this way, right? Watch them watch her, watch what happens.
