While the BIFF website at BeloitFilmFest.org has now been online for a couple of weeks, for many it is the big party where the printed program is revealed for the first time that gets people thinking about their film viewing choices.
That printed schedule, which includes background on all the films and special events, will be released to the public at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 8 at Suds O Hanahan’s at 435 East Grand Ave in Beloit. Sponsored by Blackhawk Bank, the party will include a chance to hear from those who have been screening and programming the 100 films in this year’s BIFF. Trailers for many of the films will also be shown.
A highpoint of this year’s gathering will be the presentation of the People’s Choice Award to one of the 20 films shown this season at the Wednesday evening BIFF Year ‘Round series at the Hendricks Center at Beloit College.
“Last year, because of delays in completing the printed program, we had to skip the Reveal Party” notes outgoing BIFF Executive Director Roddie Beaudoin. “We heard from many in the community that they really missed it and the chance to familiarize themselves about films as they started to put together their viewing choices. So we have brought it back.”
The BIFF2017 program is designed by Mary Terry and is printed by the Beloit Daily News. It will be available at businesses throughout Rock County starting Feb. 10th and will be distributed in the weekend edition of the Daily News on Feb. 11.
The Beloit International Film Festival, celebrating its 12th year, is sponsored by the Hendricks Group in association with Beloit College and with additional support provided by Visit Beloit. Support for the Festival comes from area businesses and civic organizations, and individual support for BIFF is provided through membership in the BIFF Founders and the Film Society of Beloit.
