BIFF2019 Reveal Opening Event Set for Feb. 5

Ten days of amazing independent film and filmmakers starts with a single step and that step is the annual BIFF Reveal Party on Tuesday Feb. 5. The hot-off-the-press Beloit Daily News printed BIFF program will make its first appearance that evening at the event at the new Home2 Suites by Hilton Beloit at 2750 Cranston Road from 5-7 p.m.

“This is our festive kickoff and annually gets the community thinking BIFF,” says executive director Marty Densch. Presented in cooperation with the Greater Beloit Chamber of Commerce, the reception will provide an opportunity to see trailers from some of the top films. BIFF staff will be on hand to provide their lists of favorites among the more than 100 shorts, narrative features, and documentaries that will be screened during the 14 th Beloit International Film festival, Feb.22–March 3.

But the hot item that evening will be the printed program with descriptions of all the films and special events during BIFF. Ticket sales usually take off the next day, though this year advance ticket sales have already been strong.

The evening will include a sumptuous buffet courtesy of Domenico’s Restaurant. Wine and beer will be available including the official launch of BIFF’s special brew, BIFF PILS, from Wisconsin Brewing Co. Local community leaders will be among the “Newsboys” that will distribute the program to guests. The program will also appear in the Feb. 9 weekend edition of the Beloit Daily News.

The Reveal Party is part of the Greater Beloit Chamber’s Business After Hours program. There is a $5 charge at the door. Members of the Beloit Film Society are free.

The Beloit International Film Festival this year marks its 14th season as the region’s major international cultural event. BIFF is sponsored by the Hendricks Family Foundation and Visit Beloit in association with Beloit College. Support for the Festival comes from area businesses and civic organizations, and the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts. Critical individual support for BIFF is provided through gifts and membership in the BIFF Founders and the Film Society of Beloit.
