Gina Hackett
Director
Gina Hackett is a writer, director, and journalist based in New York City. A Harvard alumna hailing from the Midwest, she is currently pursuing an MFA in Film at Columbia University and tells stories about women who make trouble.
In 2019, Gina received SFFILM’s prestigious Sloan Science in Cinema Filmmaker Fellowship for her feature-length screenplay A BRIDGE BETWEEN US, which is currently amongst the six finalists for the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation’s 2020 Grand Jury Award. Last year, she also received the Katharina Otto-Bernstein Production Grant for her thesis film, DELICATE PREY, which she shot on 16mm film and is currently in post-production. Her most recent film, AMATEUR NIGHT, enjoyed its world premiere at the 2019 New Orleans Film Festival and is currently on the festival circuit.
In 2018, Gina received Columbia’s Alex Sichel Fellowship for a second-year female director demonstrating promise. Her producing credits include GIRL FRIEND (2017), which took home the prize for “Best Student Short” at Provincetown International Film Festival and “Best New York Short” at New Fest. As a former Co-Chair of Columbia Women in Film (CWIF), Gina champions intersectional storytelling that explores the myriad ways in which women inspire each other. Gina has taught undergraduate Screenwriting labs at Columbia and coordinates the Print Traffic department at Telluride Film Festival.
