Ryan Steven Green
Director, Producer, Writer
Ryan Steven Green is a commercial and film director. Taking up a camera for the first time at age 14, in the subsequent two decades he has amassed a body of work that can only be described as symptomatic of an unfashionably happy childhood—with topics ranging from snails to verbal insults, modern homesteaders to moustaches, and, with his first feature-length documentary Circle the Wagen, vintage Volkswagens. A native of Los Angeles, Green received a BA in Cinema-Television with an emphasis on non-fiction filmmaking from the University of Southern California. He minored in Neuroscience. His documentary work has sent him around the world for the Emmy-winning PBS show Travelscope and can be seen in the non-fiction films of Jay Duplass as well as the global collaborative documentary One Day on Earth. As a commercial director/editor, his clients have included FanDuel, Green Dot, Nike, Plantronics, Toyota, and Zegna. He is currently in post-production on his second feature documentary, The Hollywood Shorties, which tells of the rise and fall of the eponymous professional dwarf basketball team that played in Los Angeles in the ‘70s and ‘80s. Excavating hours of VHS and U-matic material and over 8,000 original documents, he has inadvertently become the world’s foremost scholar on the long-forgotten team. He lives in Los Angeles with his very-understanding wife and daughter.
