Four poets illustrate the systematic oppression of black people from slavery to the present. The spoken word pieces are tied together by an adapted reading of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “Letter from a Birmingham Jail” by Reverend Nakeesha N. Brown. The letter emphasizes how the current Black Lives Matter movement parallels the Civil Rights movement of the 1960’s.
